What Is the Chianciano Biennale?

The Chianciano Biennale is an international contemporary art exhibition held in Chianciano Terme, a historic town in Tuscany.

The event brings together artists from different countries and artistic backgrounds. It welcomes a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, drawing, and digital art.

The 2026 edition will present artwork at the Chianciano Art Museum and across historic galleries in the town centre.

The Biennale also has connections with Gagliardi Gallery in London and the London Art Biennale.

For artists, the exhibition offers an opportunity to present their work to an international audience. It also creates a space for artists from different backgrounds to share their ideas and creative approaches.

About “Untitled”

“Untitled” is a hyper-realistic pencil drawing created using Staedtler 8B graphite on archival paper.

The artwork focuses on a single figure. I developed the drawing through many hours of careful observation and tonal layering.

Working with a single graphite grade requires patience and control. Every change in value comes from pressure, layering, texture, and technique.

The artwork explores a deeply human part of adolescence: aspirations, curiosity, emotions, and unspoken thoughts.

Rather than giving the viewer one fixed interpretation, the drawing leaves room for personal reflection.

My work often combines close observation with introspection. I also draw inspiration from traditional art and the visual language of Western vanitas painting.

Why This Selection Matters

Being selected for an international juried exhibition is an important moment in my artistic journey.

The selection places my work alongside artists from different countries and artistic disciplines. It also allows graphite drawing to enter a broader contemporary art conversation.

Pencil drawing can create remarkable depth without the use of colour. With patience and precise tonal control, graphite can produce subtle textures, shadows, and realistic details.

For me, this selection represents more than an exhibition opportunity. It reflects a long-term commitment to developing a distinctive approach to hyper-realistic pencil art.

Each artwork can take weeks or even months to complete. I focus on detail, patience, and craftsmanship rather than producing work in large volumes.
